Astronomical Activities with Disabled People

2010

With this contribution we would like to share our experiences in organizing astronomical activities addressed to people with disabilities. The goal is twofold: we would like to invite all those with similar experiences to contribute to the compilation of a document to guide other astronomers who might be interested in carrying out these kind of activities aimed at groups of people with special needs. We also want to persuade public outreach officers that working with disabled people is not as difficult as it may seem at first, as long as they are provided with adequate educational material and guidelines about how to do it. The final goal is to build a repository that can be used by educato…

Integrating retirement and permanent disability in NDC pension schemes

2015

ABSTRACTIn this article, we develop a theoretical basis for integrating retirement and permanent disability using a generic nonfinancial defined contribution framework. The methodology we use relies on a multistate overlapping generations model that includes the so-called survivor dividend. Currently, this feature can only be found in the Swedish defined contribution (DC) scheme. The results achieved in the numerical example we present endorse the fact that the model works well. Special attention is given to the assumptions made about mortality rates for disabled people and disability incidence rates, which largely determine the contribution rate assigned to disability. The model could be o…

LEGAL ASSESSMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY WHILE OUTPATIENT FORENSIC MEDICINE EXAMINATION OF INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED PEOPLE

2020

RAPID PROTOTYPING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE ACCESSIBILITY TO CULTURAL HERITAGE FOR BLIND PEOPLE

2019

Abstract. The extension of accessibility of CH to disabled people is a current topic of great importance. Today, there exist a lot of ongoing projects aimed at the extension of accessibility using the most recent and low cost technologies to improve accessibility to CH. One of the technologies, today available that can help to improve accessibility to CH, is certainly rapid prototyping. The main goal of the research here illustrated is the application of rapid prototyping for the extension of accessibility of Cultural Heritage (CH) to blind and visually impaired people. The use of microfinance services among economically active disabled people: Evidence from Uganda

2010

Authors version of an article in the journal: Journal of International Development. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/jid.1720 This study investigates the use of microfinance services among economically active disabled people in Uganda. The findings suggest that disabled people make more use of microfinance services than previously assumed. A total of 89 per cent of the survey's respondents state that they have used at least one type of microfinance service. Informal self-help schemes are more easily accessed than formal institutional schemes, and disabled people access more savings than loans. The multivariate analysis shows that access to microfinance service…

Koulutuksen tasa-arvon muuttuvat merkitykset: Kasvatussosiologian vuosikirja 1

2016

Reliability and validity of the COPE Index among caregivers of disabled people.

2017

Aim To study the reliability and validity of the Carers of Older People in Europe (COPE) Index among caregivers of disabled people of different ages. Methods A cross-sectional design of Finnish caregivers (n = 1117). Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed separately on samples of three different age groups, and the internal consistencies of the subscales were investigated. Results Three factors were identified; Cronbach's alpha was 0.83–0.86 for negative impact and 0.77–0.78 for quality of support, indicating good internal consistency. The third factor, positive value, was less consistent across the age groups (α < 0.66). Conclusions The COPE Index is a valid and reliable screening…

Sosiaalipalveluiden työntekijöiden ja vammaisten asiakkaiden vuorovaikutuksen diskurssit asiakkaiden blogikeskusteluissa

2018
